Appalaya Gunta- Agastheswara Ashramam



PRASANNA VENKATESWARA SWAMI SANNIDHI-APPALAYA GUNTA


This is an ancient divine temple situated in the village of Appalaya Gunta ,on the inland road through Puttur Thadukupetta Pudi,on the way from Chennai to Tirupathi .Srinivasa ,Who proceeded from Nagalapuram after marrying Padmavathy, given Darshan to Rishi Siddeswara,who did penance as Prasanna Venkateswara .This temple is also under the administration of Tirupathi Devasthanam Board
                                     AGASTHEESWARA SWAMI ASHRAM
According to the legend Padmavathi and Srinivasa ,the newly wedded couple who undertook exhortation of Agastheeswara, Installed and bowed by Agasthya Muni, stayed in this Ashrama as guest for six months and Mahalakshmi who arrived from kollapuram finishing her penance ,reached here and quarreled with Srinivasa
                                              SWARNA MUKHI RIVER
 This is the holy river flowing round the temple of Agastheeswara Swami Temple. The Earthern vessel in which the Nivedya is offered to Sri Tirumala Venkateswara Swami is thrown into the Viriga here after the pasada has bee accepted by the SRINIVASA.According  to the Legend remains of these earthern  vessel reach the Swarnamukhi River.The Idoils of Vishnu-Siva carved out of a single stone ten feet in height and the idols G anapathy,Muruka, and Sree Ayyappa with the eighteen holy steps on the mandapa in the middle of the river is a sight worth seeing,In which period and for what purpose Sri Ayyappa,the son of Hari Hara came here is still a mystery

                                                        
                                                           Srinivasa Mangapuram

This is located at a distance of 12 km to the west of Tirupathi.It is said that after the marriage with Padmavathi,Srinivasa lived for six months in this place called Srinivasa Mangapuram.So the Lord of this temple was popular as Sri Kalyana Venkateswara.In this temple every year,Brahmostavams will be organised wonderfully.Lord with his wife,went to Tirumala from this place.As the Lord placed his foot first time,this is also known as Srivari Mettu(stair).One can reach Tirumala from this route also

                                                                   
  Chandragiri

Chandragiri Kota It is located at 11 km from Tirupathi .In 1000 A.D..This was built by Yadava Narasimha Raya and later it was developed during the reigh of Venkatapathi Raya

  A museum is also there,in which idoils obtained by archeological department can be seen.Idoils of fivemetals,coins, Cannons,warfare of kings can also be seen in the museam.One must see light and sound which is observed every day from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm



                                                       Horsli Hills

This is at a distance of 144 km from Tirupathi on the way to Madanapalli.This is approximately 1260 km from the sea level.The climate is very plesant and attractive.This place was made into summer spot by a british officer Horsli,so this is called Horsli Hills
                                                                          
This place is popularly known as Andhra Ooty.It is very purposeful to visit this place in summer.Guest houses by Governament and private agencies will be available


                                                   RAMAGIRI

Sri Valliswara Swami Temple

This is at Ramagiri on the way to Nagalapuram which is at a distance of 60 km from Tirupathi. The Lord will be in the form of Linga and bent to one side. so this is called Valliswara swami temple

   As this is situated on a high hill, the climate is vey plesing,opposite to the main idol,The idol of Anjaneya swami can be seen


                                  Surutupalli

                    

Sri Pallikindeswara Swami Devasthanams This is at a distance of 77 km from Tirupathi and situated on the bank of river Aruni,In the village called Surutupalli.Unlike the form of linga, here Lord Shiva will be seen in the form of taking rest in the lap of Parvathi.This is popularly known as resting place of Lord Shiva
                                                  

  It is said that Lord Shiva had taken rest in the Lap of Parvathi when he had taken HalaHala which come out during Ksheera Sagara Madhanam as other Lords come to Shiva,this is called Sirulapalli,Gradually changed to Surutupalli

                                                                                                          
                      Talakona-Sri Siddeswara Swami Temple

This is at a distance of 65 km an way to Madanapalli to Bhakarapet at a distance of 24 km .with green scenary,high hills,wonderful water fall,This place attractive many tourists.As it was the corner of the head of Seshachalamu,this is called Talakona.Here Sankara will appear as Siddeswara.It is said that if bath in the water falls of 100 feet high .all the sins were removed.On the occassion of MahaShivaratri,a 5 day festival will be conducted here
