DETAILS ABOUT IMPORTANT PROGRAMMES CONDUCTED AT THE TEMPLE OF SRIVARI BRAHMOTASAVAS

Brahmotsavas mean the celebrations Brahma himself conduts.Therefore these celebrations are got eh name Brahmotsavas.Details about the programmes in these celebrations which are conducted for 9 days


  Puring of the Temple (Alaya Sudhdhi)

Alaya Sudhdhi Mrutha Sangrahanam,(receiving the dead) Dhwajarohanam,(Climbing the devine Pillar)Vahana Seva ,(Service on the Vehicle)Srivari Koluvu,Snapanam, Choomabhishekam,(bathing with powder)Chakra snana,(bathing the wheel) Devathodwasanam,(sending Goddesses off) Dwajavarohan (Climbing down  the divine pillars)

  The programmes of cleaning the temple before the starting of Brahmotsava is calles Alaya Sudhdhi .The Temple is cleaned in proper methods according to the Hindhu Relegious scriptures.Later the premises of the temple ,the main temple are decorated with mango leaves and flowers which spread sweet smell most beautifully.This method is also Alaya Sudhdhi and decoration

  Mrutha Sangrahanam (taking the soil) In the morning of the first day of Brahmotsavams,Puja is done in the name of Mrutha Sangrahana.During this puja the priests of the temple worships Viswaksnena,Anantha ,Indrashana and Garuda who are the goddesses in this puja soil is apread on the floor of a room.Nine Type of grains are planted in it.Sprouting worships(Ankurarpana Puja)comes to an end with this


Dhwajarohanam and Devathavanam

 Dhwajarohana means hoisting the flag which contains symbol to Garuda(eagle) Brahmotsvas start with this flying symbol

  This programme is conducted on the top of Dhwaja Sthambha which is at Nadimipadi Kavali in the premises of the temple.Hoisting of the flag ends amidst the chanting of hymns by temple authorities and leaders of Mathas amidst the joy of devotees

 Vahana Seva

   The service done to celebrations statue of Swamy known as Malayappa Swamy by taking him on vehicles in a procession along the streest of Tirumala is known as Vahana Seva(Vehicle service)

  Each vehicle has its identity and speciality among these specilities each of the Swamy`s message has specality .That means each vehicle is given some significance.Each significance is given a speciality

Srivari Shelters(Koluvu)

  After taking Malayappa Swamys by a separate vehicle on each day on the occation of Brahmosavas in a procession along the streets of Tirupathi,he takes shelter in the main temple.At that time the present of the temple offer food items(Naivedyam) to Swamy

Snapanam(bathing)

  After the celebrations Malayappa Swamy is given a bath with the water in which scented herbal powders are mixed .This is called bathing .Devotees believe that Swamy will be relieved of the tiresomeness he got during the procession because of this bath

Churnabhishekam

(bathing with sandal powder)This bathing takes place in the morning of the day of  Brahmotsavas.Applying sandal powder to Swamy and his Goddesses and giving a bath to them is called Churnabhishekam.Later Swamy and his Goddesses are groomed and taken in procession in the streets of Tirumala.Priests of the temple distribute the sandal powders,which is applied on Swamy to the devotees during the processions.Devotees belive that all the hurdles on their way will be removed by wearing Swamy`s sandal powder

  Chakra Snanam

The tradition of bathing after conducting the yagna is called Chakra Snana.In the morning of the last day of Brahmostavas,Swamy,Swmy`s Goddesses,Sudarshana Chakra(wheel )are given a bath in Swamy Pushkarani.At this time devotees also can take bath along with swamy and Sudarshana Chakra in Swamy Pushkarani.Devotees participate in this most sacred Archana beyond caste and religion


 Devotadwasanam
(Visiting Goddesses and saints) The tradition of visiting saints,Goddesses on the last day of the Brahmostavas is called Devathodwasana.This programmes is conducted after Archana (Worshiping)which is done daily.Since Brahma  Deva himself conduct these celebrations ,rulers of Mathas ,priests praise Brahma Deva

Dhwajavarohanam(Pulling down of the flag)
 The flag which was hoisted on the first day of the Brahmotsavams is pulled down on the last day.This programme is called Dhwajarohanam


WORSHIPS AND APPEAALITIES CONDUCTED FOR NINE DAYS DURING BRAHMOTSAVAS

First Day-Pedda Sesha Vahana Seva

Oon the first day of Brahmotsavas officials of the temple hoist the flag with a black garuda(eagle) Syambol at the Dhwajastamba.Malayappa Swamy is taken on the vehicle of snake in procession along the streest of Tirumala.In a grand manner.This programme is started at 10 P.m and cuducted upto mdnight.Sesha means to offer service.Adiseshu is a snake with thousand heads.Sri Maha Vishnuvu keep taking rest on the bed of snakes in vaikunta.Tirumala kondalu are the above of Sri Venkateswara.It is believed that these Seven hills are the incornations of Seven snakes called Adesheshu.The way in which Sri Maha Vishuvu was relaxing on the bed of Snakes in Vaikunta is similar to the way in which Sri Venkateswa is relaxing on Tirumala hills which are the incornations of Adiseshu.That is why Swamy is taken on the bed of snakes(Sesha Panpu)along the Streest of Tirupathi in a procession .Swamy moves along the street one day on big Sesha Vahanam and on the other day on small Sesha Panpu

Second Day-Chinna Sesha Vahana Seva

 Malayappa Swamy is taken on small sesha panpu along the streets in a procession amidist the devotees singing of psalms and playing of the game called Kolata.Malayappa Swamy along with his Goddess is taken to Uyyala Mandapa(Craddle mandapa) during night time that day for Oonjala service

After Oonjala service,Swamy and the Goddess are taken on the vehicle of Swan in procession along the streests of  Tirumala

Hamsa,means pure.It is belived that Hamsa has infinite Discrimination

 it is believed that the bird good from bad.In addition to these,Hams is seen on the front.Because of these reasons.Deva not only made Swan (Hamsa) as his Vehicle but also used it to read the Vedas.According to Purnas,Vedas,orginated from Sri Maha Vishnuvu`s soul

Third Day-Simha Vahana Seva

On this day Malayappa Swamy along with his Goddess is taken on the vehicle of lion in a procession

  Lion means the the symbol of power and monarchy.According to Bhagavath Gita.king of animals is the Lion.Sri Swamy is called Hari.Hari means lion.And Swamy is given the name Simhavahanudu(God who has lion as vehicle)according other productive meaning Swamy sits on himselft or he climbs on himself

  According to the other productive meaning Sri Swamy was incornated as Sri Narasimha Swamy and killed Hiranya Kashyap.In this incornation ,Swamy is half lion and half man.Because of all these reasons Sri Venkateswara is taken in procession along the streets of Tirumala as Malayappa Swamy,Oonajal service is conducted that night .Later Swamy along with his Goddesses is taken in procession  on a pandal of pearals.Speciality of this vehicle is which is on the vehicle.Pandal of pearls .Pearls is the symbol of purity and monarchy

Fourth Day-Kalpa Vruksha Vahana Seva

The celebration statues are taken in a procession on Kalpa Vruksha(The tree which provides all the things)along the streets of Tirumala.Kalpa Vruksha is the name of a tree.This is called Kalpa Vruksha because it fulfills the desires of the devotees.Swamy and his Goddesses are taken in a procession on Kalpa Vruksha because like Kalpa Vruksha Swamy.Also fulfills the desires of his devotees and given them inbinte boons

  As usual Oonjal service is done during the night of the fourth day.Later Swamy is taken in procession on Sarva Bhupala Vahana (the vehicle of all the kings of the land)

 Sarva Bhupa means the kings of the mother earth.According to Hindu Religion ,Kings,God all these should always protect the people who believe in them

Swamy is taken on Sarva Bhupala Vehicle to pray and to thank Sri Maha Vishnuvu who made mysteries .With this Fourth Day of Brahmotsavas comes to an end


Fifth Day-Mohini Avataram And Garuda Vahana Seva

Sri Maha Vishnuvu look the incornation of an attaractive woman called Mohini.Therefore,Celebraion of Mohini incorantion is conducted on the fifth day

 According Purnas,Goddess and grants churned the sea of milk,Along with so many divine things,nectar has also been produced out of it.War took place between Goddessed and gaints for that nectar.Then Sri Krishina took the incornation of a seductress who provoked the gaints romantically and took them into transworld,thus the Goddesses got the nectar

Malayappa Swamy the celebration statues of Sri Venkateswara was dressed as Mohini and taken in procession in a palanquin.Sri Krishna is also taken in the same palanquin.Sri Krishna is also taken in the same palanquin.The celebration done today because Sri Maha Vishnuvu in the incornation of Mohini helped Goddesses in getting the nectar

  Oonjal seva is conducted that night.Later Swamy along with his Goddesses is taken in procession .Today Swamy is docrated with Maha Kanthi (chain ornament)thousand coir(nara) garlands

According to Puranas,Sri Maha Vishnuvu is the Veda and Garuda is its reflection or image.Therefore,Swamy finds himself in Garuda.According to Vaishnava Puranas,Garuda is called Periya Thiruvadi.Periya Thiruvadi means first devotee.Swamy made Garuda as his vehicle on the most impotant day.It is the greatest of all vehicles.Today devotees in large number come to see this celebrations from every nook and corner.

Sixth Day-Hanumadwahana Seva

 Malayappa Swamy along with his Goddesses is taken in procession by Hanumadwahan which is most beatutifully decorated Hanumanth is a great devotee of Sri Rama wo is the encornation of Sri Maha Vishnu.Hanumantha offered a pure and affectionate service to the Swamy.It was written in detail in Puranas that the service to the Swamy by Hanumantha was so great that he was thanked by the swamy.Therefore devotees standly beleive that it they have a little darshan of Swamy ,they will get his blessings

Oonjal service is done on the night of the sixthday.Later Vasanthotsava(sprinkling of coloured water on one another) is conducted

  That night swamy is taken on the vehicle of Elephant in a Procession.Gajamu means elephant.and society (those who are born from Samaveda).It is paid that it is the symbol of wealth.Still it resembles the Aairavatha(white Elephant)which is the vehicle of Indra.It is also analysed that it is the elephant called gajamu.who is a dear devotee of Vishnu in Gajendra Moksha(Freedom of the Elephant)

  On the sixth day of Brahmotsava,Swamy is seated on the vehicle of elephant and taken in procession along the streets of Tirumala

Seventh Day-Surya Prabha Vahana Seva

Sri Malayappa Swamy ascends the vehicle of Surya Prabha (son) in the morning of this day.Surya is the son of Adithi According to Hindu Puranas and theory of Star system.Sri Maha vishnuvu is the centre of the Universe.Surya Prabha vehicle is used as a symbol of this After Oonjal seva that night ,Swamy is taken in procession on the vehicle of Moon along the streets of Tirumala.This vehicle will be in the shape of the Moon.Chandra means Moon.Moon is another name for coolness and calmness.According to the Hindu Puranas,moon is the ruler of the mind.Moreover,Moon is the ruler of medicine

Devotees believe that Swamy will get experience of relief by taking a procession on the vehicle of Moon along the streest of Tirumala.It is believed that the satisfaction of God gives peace of mind to the devotees and as a result the country gets good yield from its fields

Eight Day-Radhostavahana Seva

 Rathotsava(Chariot celebrations) is conducted on the last but one day.Malayappa Swamy is seated on gold chariot and taken in procession along the streest of Tirumala in the morning

 Devotees believe that those who see Chariot Celebrations will get freedom from rebirth.The rider Srikrishan`s Chariot Daruka and four horses namely Saibhyam,Sugreevam,Meghapushpam and Valahaka who are on the  front of Swamy seated along with his Goddesses are decorated.That is why it appears as if the rider of the Swamy`s vehicle were riding the chariot

Devotees pull the chariot by pronouncing the name Govinda ! Govinda .Devotees believe that they have got the chance of conductiong this programmes by themselves during Brahmotsavams

 Gold chariot goes along the streets in procession as the devotees are dancing by playing Kolata and Chanting the name of the God

 After Oonjal sevvice that night the statues of the God and Goddesses are taken on the vehicle of horse.Horses are made into chariot,Elephants ,Soldiers with the help of Wings.They resembel the ancients wings of army.Horse is the symbol of energy that means that which runs very fast

ii is said that Malayappa Swamy went on hunting on this horse.This incident is celebrated in a grand manner during the auspecious days of Sankranthi.According to Puranas,this horse was born out of the chuming of the ruler of milk

9th Day-Chakra Snanam

  On  this day which is the last day of Brahmotsavams planquin service,celebrations of bathing of Chakra (wheel) and Pulling of the flag down are done.for Swamy in the morning.Celebration statue which are taken in procession are washed with/bathed with oils,turmeric and other sacred substances.Sudarshana wheel and celebrations statues are given bath in Swamy Pushkarani.At this time devotees also take the bath in Swamy Pushkarani and make their lives meaningful

  In the evening.Brahmotsavas come to an end by pulling the flag down from the Dhwaja Stambha.There is no exaggeration in saying that if devotees have the darshan of Swamy even for nine minutes during nine day,They will get their desires fulfilled and be qualified for solvation.It will be possiable to see Brahmotsavams only if there is the front of good deeds in several births.It is a luck to have Swamy`s Darshan during normal days but it leads to Moksha .If we have Swamy`s Darshan during Brahmotsavas .Let us pray to Swamy that every one should get that great Opportunity
